Ric Flair’s Absence from AEW Programming Explained
Former WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair made a brief appearance on AEW television, gifted by AEW President Tony Khan to the retiring Sting. However, Flair’s presence was short-lived as he disappeared from the programming. In a recent interview with “From The Master’s Class,” Flair revealed that his absence was due to health concerns.
Flair disclosed that the reason he is not on TV currently is because Tony Khan was unaware that he was on blood thinners. This revelation came to light during Sting’s last match, where Flair had prepared a blade for the event. Despite his readiness, Sting declined the use of the blade. Flair mentioned that in the past, he had made blades for fellow wrestlers as well.
The wrestling legend emphasized that blading is a crucial aspect of his wrestling style, regardless of his age. Flair humorously shared that cutting himself was sometimes necessary to ensure a compelling match, especially when facing less thrilling opponents. He recounted the challenges of wrestling for extended periods, citing an hour-long match with Rufus R. Jones as a particularly grueling experience.
Since his retirement in 2022 after a controversial match, Flair has ventured into various business endeavors. Apart from launching his Wooooo! Energy Drinks, he also collaborated with boxing icon Mike Tyson to introduce a cannabis brand in states where marijuana is legal for recreational and medical purposes. Despite his absence from AEW programming, Flair remains active in the business world, exploring new opportunities beyond the wrestling ring.
