Adam Copeland Believes This WWE Match Was A ‘No-Win Situation’

Adam Copeland Reflects on WWE Match Against Randy Orton

In a recent interview with Kenny McIntosh of Inside The Ropes, All Elite Wrestling’s Adam Copeland opened up about his match against Randy Orton in 2020, famously dubbed by WWE as “The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever.” Copeland expressed his pride in the match but also shared his frustration with the circumstances surrounding it.

“It felt like a no-win situation,” Copeland confessed. “I definitely wish that Backlash match could have been in front of more than just 20 students at the PC because I’m still really proud of it, and the circumstances that Randy and I were put in to pull something off were pretty ridiculous.”

Reflecting on the challenge of creating the “greatest wrestling match ever” without a live audience, Copeland highlighted the subjective nature of such a claim. “There’s no such thing as the greatest anything unless you’re in an actual athletic contest,” he explained. Despite the unique circumstances, Copeland found the experience to be enjoyable and challenging, expressing his desire for the match to have had an audience.

Adam Copeland’s Future in AEW

Currently sidelined for storyline purposes in AEW, Copeland is rumored to make a return for a significant match at All In: Texas. Teaming up with his longtime friend Christian Cage, they are set to face off against FTR in what promises to be a highly anticipated showdown.
