Drew McIntyre Opens Up About Lessons Learned from His First WWE Journey

Drew McIntyre Reflects On His Eye-Opening Initial WWE Run

Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre recently opened up about his initial WWE run from 2007 to 2014, admitting that he believed his own hype and was ultimately released due to his behavior and attitude backstage.

McIntyre acknowledged that he was given a significant opportunity but let it slip away, leading to his release from WWE in 2014. Reflecting on this period, McIntyre stated, “I had to get sent all the way to the bottom and below the bottom to finally make my way back to the top.”

Following his departure from WWE, McIntyre worked on the independent scene and for TNA Wrestling, where he faced setbacks, including a broken neck in 2016. However, McIntyre believes that these challenges helped shape him into the star he is today.

“I had to get away to truly look at myself…I had to step away and rebuild that image, rebrand myself, but also, more importantly, grow up,” McIntyre said.

Looking back on his past experiences, McIntyre emphasized the importance of personal growth and maturity in his journey back to the top of WWE.
