Samoa Joe and Jon Moxley Set for Steel Cage Showdown at AEW Beach Break
In a surprising turn of events, Samoa Joe and Jon Moxley are set to face off inside a steel cage for the AEW World Championship at the upcoming “Beach Break” event.
The rivalry between Joe and Moxley escalated when Joe was announced as the next challenger for the AEW World Championship during a recent episode of “AEW Dynamite.” This decision came after Joe had previously choked out Moxley during a challenge for the World Trios titles held by the Death Riders.
During the latest episode of “AEW Dynamite,” The Opps, consisting of Joe and his allies, made a bold statement by defeating Rhett Titus, Nick Comoroto, and Myles Hawkins in a swift victory.
Following the match, a brawl ensued between Moxley, the Death Riders, Joe, and The Opps. Joe managed to lock in his signature Coquina Clutch on Moxley, only to be interrupted by Claudio Castagnoli threatening Katsuyori Shibata with a chair. Joe intervened to prevent any harm, seizing the opportunity to challenge Moxley to a Steel Cage Match for the AEW World title.
Samoa Joe Raises the Stakes with Steel Cage Demand
Samoa Joe’s challenge has added an intense stipulation to the upcoming title match at Beach Break. By proposing a Steel Cage Match against AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Joe has set the stage for a high-stakes showdown.
The match on May 14 will mark only the second singles encounter between Moxley and Joe, with Joe previously emerging victorious over Moxley on a 2017 episode of “WWE Raw.” For Joe, this is a chance to secure his second AEW World title, having held the championship from Worlds End 2023 to Dynasty 2024. Meanwhile, Moxley aims to defend his title for the sixth time since WrestleDream 2024.
