Jacob Fatu Set to Defend WWE US Title in Fatal 4-Way Showdown
The WWE United States Champion, Jacob Fatu, is gearing up for his first title defence in a Fatal 4-Way match at WWE Backlash. General Manager Nick Aldis made the official announcement during the latest episode of SmackDown. Fatu will be facing off against Damian Priest, LA Knight, and Drew McIntyre in what promises to be an intense battle.
Originally, the match was supposed to be a triple threat between Fatu, Priest, and Knight. However, Solo Sikoa, Fatu’s Bloodline stablemate, argued that McIntyre deserved a shot at the title after defeating Knight last week, albeit through Priest’s interference. Aldis agreed with Sikoa’s reasoning and added McIntyre to the mix, turning the match into a Fatal 4-Way.
This upcoming match will be Fatu’s first since WrestleMania 41, where he claimed the United States Championship by defeating Knight. It will also mark his first title defence, adding an extra layer of pressure to the already high-stakes showdown.
Exciting Championship Matches Lined Up for WWE Backlash
The Fatal 4-Way match for the United States Championship is just one of the thrilling bouts scheduled for WWE Backlash in St. Louis. Fans can also look forward to John Cena taking on Randy Orton for the Undisputed WWE Championship and Lyra Valkyria facing Becky Lynch for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Additionally, Gunther and Pat McAfee are set to go head-to-head at the Premium Live Event.
