Early Life
Born on September 26, 1981, in Osaka, Japan, Kanako Urai, better known by her ring name Asuka, developed a passion for wrestling at a young age. She began her training in the sport in her early 20s, studying various martial arts disciplines to enhance her skills in the ring.
Wrestling Career
Asuka made her professional wrestling debut in 2004 in the Japanese wrestling promotion AtoZ. She quickly gained recognition for her unique combination of technical prowess and hard-hitting strikes, earning her a reputation as one of the most formidable competitors in the ring.
In 2015, Asuka signed with WWE and made her debut in the developmental brand NXT. She went on an unprecedented undefeated streak, capturing the NXT Women’s Championship and holding it for a record-breaking 510 days. Asuka’s dominance in NXT caught the attention of the main roster, and she made her debut on Raw in 2017.
