UFC Legend Surprised by Former WWE Superstar’s Octagon Appearance
Former UFC veteran Matt Brown remains shocked by the UFC’s decision to allow former WWE superstar CM Punk to compete inside the Octagon. Brown expressed his disbelief during an episode of MMAFighting.com’s “The Fighter vs. The Writer,” questioning the UFC’s move to let Punk fight in 2016 and 2018.
Brown criticized the decision, stating, “You’re not supposed to get in there because of your fame or your popularity. You’re supposed to be the baddest f*cking dude. As real as it gets, right?”
Since his time in the UFC, Punk has returned to the wrestling industry, joining AEW in 2021 and WWE in late 2023. Despite his wrestling success, Brown remains puzzled by the UFC’s choice to allow Punk to compete in MMA.
